It dates right back to the eighth century although a war in the 15th century and a subsequent fire in the 16th century devastated all of what was once a market settlement. Today the feel of the place is distinctly Baroque as many Italian artists settled here and participated in the construction of palaces and churches. At the heart of the district is the Malostranske Namesti Square from which cobbled streets lead off into a maze of quaint shops, bars and restaurants. Don’t forget to bring some money to sample some of the local delights or buy some traditional souvenirs on your way round. Aside from this, the tour gives you the opportunity to admire some of the majestic palaces not to mention the terrace of the famous Strahov Monastery from where you can enjoy stunning views over the Lesser town and Prague.
